Adoptable Pets
Pets are a lifelong commitment. Thinking about adopting a pet? Here are some very important things to consider before bringing them home.
- Does everyone in the home agree to adopting a pet?
- Does your housing situation allow for pets? Any breed restrictions? Double check with your landlord or property manager if you’re unsure.
- Do you have time for a pet? If you travel often or work long hours, consider the cost of pet sitting or boarding. Is this something you are willing and able to pay for?
- Are there other animals in your home? Do they get along with other animals?
- Can you provide appropriate outdoor fencing to keep him/her safe and secure? If not, do you have the ability to walk them multiple times a day?
- Any allergies? If you don’t know, plan to spend at least 30 minutes to an hour with your potential new pet to make sure you do not show any signs or symptoms of allergies.
- Consider potential medical care that your pet could need over the course of their lifetime. Are you able to provide the veterinary care they may need?
